Kristin Thomson is a consultant for the US-based non-profit Future of Music Coalition (FMC), which advocates for musicians. From 2011-2016, she co-directed FMC’s Artist Revenue Streams research project, which examined changes in musicians’ sources of income. From 2015-2016, Thomson contributed to the 2017 edition of Music Business Toolbox 2.0, authored by digital music strategist Bryan Calhoun. Thomson is co-owner of Simple Machines, an independent record label, which released over 70 records and CDs from 1991-1998. She also played guitar in the band Tsunami.
