Belmont's Pipeline Project: Achieving Consensus in an Evolving Music Licensing Landscape
presented by Belmont University students: Jesse Bobick, Alessandra Alegre, and Stephen Denninger
On behalf of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), Belmont University commissioned a team of three students, as part of their Pipeline Project, to conduct research over the summer of 2015 regarding the current state of music licensing and consent decrees. In continuing this initiative, our team urges the music industry to present their viewpoints as a unified front to Congress and the DOJ; we aim to encourage discussion between the creators, owners, and distributors of music to develop effective and sustainable solutions. In this presentation, we will detail our multi-stage research process, observations, and insights, as well as the origin of the Pipeline Project itself as a model of forward-thinking music business education.

UCLA Music 2020 Project and Changing Futures
presented by Gigi Johnson, Inaugural Director, UCLA Center for Music Innovation
At the new UCLA Center for Music Innovation at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, we're working on a year-long project on what music futures are possible and engaging in conversations between communities on where we might/should/could be going. In this session, we'll share the insights and results so far as well as engage in ways that other programs students and faculty can get involved. We'll also share details on our new Music Innovation Summer Institute.
