John Butler began playing in bands in his early teens and studied in the music business program at William Paterson University. While at school, he hosted a number of radio shows on the campus FM station and also took an internship at Z100, a Top 40 station in NYC. While there, he was approached to do college radio promotion for TVT Records which was in the middle of launching the career of Nine Inch Nails. Afterwards, he segued to work at Jive Records in their Silvertone division. Butler moved to Nashville to work for Arista Records in 1998 which led him back into Rock and Roots music promotion for their Austin label. He spent another three years as Head of Promotion for a small imprint called Squint Entertainment. When Squint and Word Entertainment were sold to Warner Music Group in 2001, Butler came to Curb Records and now oversee the label’s Pop, Non-Country and Christian music campaigns as VP of Promotion.
