Maureen Droney is Vice President of the Recording Academy (GRAMMY Awards) Producers & Engineers Wing.  As a recording engineer, she worked on projects for Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Santana, including Santana’s GRAMMY-winning album Blues for Salvador, among many others, as well as two Billboard Top 10 Dance records. Prior to joining the Recording Academy, Droney oversaw the Kiva Family of studios and music-related businesses, which included the House of Blues Studios in Los Angeles and Memphis, and East Iris Studios in Nashville. She was the longtime Los Angeles editor fpr Mix magazine, authored the popular recording textbook Mix Masters, and was a regular contributor to numerous performing arts publications. Maureen has taught audio seminars for companies including ABC Television and Radio, CBS Television, and Deluxe, and also worked in both artist and studio management. More recently, she co-authored, with its subject, Al Schmitt On The Record: The Magic Behind The Music, a memoir of the life of the most awarded recording and mix engineer of all time.
